John Booth war hero Blamain Rowing Club

Henry (Harry) Hauenstein

Henry (Harry) Hauenstein, the well know Olympic and Interstate oarsman, who was recently married, has responded to the Empire’s call and hopes to be with his brother oarsmen when the allied troops march into Constantinople.

He is the only NSW oarsman who has won three Interstate eight-oared races. He represented NSW in 1907, 1908, 1909, 1910 and 1911. The crews of 1908, 1910 and 1911 were successful. he also rowed in the famous Australian crew which defeated Leander club Regatta in 1912. He was a member of the Australian Crew which competed later in the Olympic Games at Stockholm when the Leander “eight” reversed the Henley result. He was a very powerful oarsman and generally rowed in number 5 thwart. Best wishes Harry.
