We raced. Three BRC 8+ contested the Iron Cove Classic 2 and we achieved 2 podium finishes. Congratulations Mens 8+ and the (mighty) Mixed Masters 8+.
We sank. Our third entry (WM8+) struck trouble in the form of a violent boat wash. The D&S Croot was damaged and sank. I must acknowledge Irene Armstrong, Tom Schmitz, Adam Johnson, Ralph Hobbs, David Longhurst and Bob Greeves and also the BROs from RNSW for their efforts rescuing the crew. Nine very composed BRC athletes were plucked from the water with minimal fuss and no injuries. RMS is investigating, our boat will be assessed and we have secured a replacement for our HOTY campaign.
We supported. A North Shore crew struck similar trouble. BRC members performed the rescue and then our members at our pontoon helped the crew drain their boat, happily undamaged. We provided an escort back to the Lane Cove River. Yesterday I was delighted to receive a letter from the Captain of NSRC thanking us for our efforts. All of you who helped (you know who you are) are bloody legends.
Then we raised a few bucks... The Open Women with the support of Owen Nix concluded our recent raffle, raising $3000! BRC members cooked the house down at back to Balmain Day and raised over $1000! Thanks Men's and Para squads for leading this effort. Plus we had a hall hire - a lazy $800!
What a Sunday!.
