2022 Australian Rowing Championships

28 March – 3 April 2022 Nagambie Lakes, Victoria

A strong field of Para rowers from across the country competed in the Australian Rowing Championships this year, with club rowers competing alongside past Paralympians and those seeking current selection for the Australian team.

BRC was represented by Jack Calderan, Bronte Marshall, Ellie Taylor and Lauren Webber across four events.

The conditions ranged from hot and dry for the first two days to challenging cross course winds for the remainder of the week. This did not deter our rowers, who are used to tough Iron Cove conditions, and they rowed with determination, great technique and strength, never giving up.

The results:

PR3 W1x

Bronte, Ellie and Lauren all competed in the PR3W1x, with competition close right to the finish line. All rowed their best races ever.

A Final Bronte - Silver

Lauren - 6th

Ellie – 4th in the Repechage. The B Final was cancelled

PR3 Mix2x

Bronte and Stuart John (ANU) - 4th

The strong winds proved very challenging for this lightweight crew.

PR3 Mix 4+

Bronze - Jack Calderan, Lauren Webber teamed with past BRC members Kevin Wall (Shell Harbour) and Rebecca Jones (ANU) Cox. S. Ellis (Mersey)

4th - Ellie Taylor, Stuart John (ANU), Christian Lane-Krebs (Bundaberg), Rebecca Markwell (Bundaberg) Cox. Anne Craig

We thank the interstate para rowers who teamed with our BRC rowers to make this a close race for Bronze

PR3W1x Sprint

Bronte – Bronze

Lauren – 5th

The Bob Blake Shield was awarded to NSW again this year having accumulated the most para points over the course of the regatta.

We congratulate all our rowers who gave their all while rowing but also supported and encouraged their fellow team rowers.

Thank you to those who sent messages of support and encouragement.
